#959, "dvgrab 3.0, HDV from Canon HV20, weird output"

Hi all,
First, thanks for dvgrab, an excellent tool.
I used it as follows for capturing HDV stream from my Canon HV20 :

dvgrab --autosplit --format hdv

The resulting .m2t files may have a problem : they all have
a little bit (as much as the length of 20 frames) of additional audio at the beginning, and one or two frames from the next autodetected recording (or take, or scene, or split), without corresponding audio at the end.
So, does this comes from the camcorder output ? or does this come from a problem in dvgrab 3.0 ? It's really annoying, as I don't manage to create smaller deinterlaced .m2v files with proper/clean begin and end, from the .m2t files spit by dvgrab...
Thanks for your help.
Should I ask this question in another forum/mailing list ?
Thanks
sam

This is the right place, but I don't have an HDV camera to test with let alone HV20. Dan Streetman implemented the HDV support (ddstreet at ieee.org). Please email him and cc kino-dev@lists.sf.net.

I have the same problem with an HV30 (HDV camera) and dvgrab 3.0. My understanding is that the scene cuts are randomly placed inside GOPs, and that video can only be cut by dvgrab at frame boundaries, while sound can be cut anywhere. This is why you start with video that is earlier than sound by a number of frames which is some random number between 0 and GOP size minus one. DV is much simpler because is coded frame by frame, so no such problem appears.
