#3611, "capturing video with kernel 2.6.32"

I can't capture video via firewire from my old handycam since updating to kernel 2.6.32. Apparently this kernel used a new firewire subsystem called juju:

The AV/C controls work. I can use them to rewind the tape. But then capture fails completely. The tape runs for just a few seconds then stops and nothing gets captured.

I was wondering if there might be a work around for this problem (other than reverting to kernel 2.6.31). Does the long term fix need to be in the subsystem or kino? Thank you.
